‘Heritage’ is an upright, everbearing red raspberry with white flowers and two fruiting periods. It bears a fall crop on first-year cane tips and can crop again the following late spring on the lower cane sections. ## Flowers and fruit
White blooms appear from early summer into fall and attract bees and butterflies; the red berries are eaten fresh or preserved. Mature-size reports vary: the Chicago Botanic Garden gives about 5 ft high by 2 ft wide, Greenleaf lists 4–5 ft by 1–2 ft, and Park Seed reports 4–5 ft by 3–4 ft. The cultivar is listed for zones 3–8 by Greenleaf and Park Seed and 4–8 by the Chicago Botanic Garden. ## Growing conditions
Choose full sun or partial shade and moist, well-drained soil; avoid waterlogged ground. A raised bed can help where heavy clay drains poorly. Allow space for suckering canes or grow a plant in a container with support.
## Maintenance
For a single fall crop, cut canes to the ground while dormant. To retain a two-crop system, remove each cane after its second fruiting season and keep younger canes for the next harvest.
