Snowbank is a named white blackberry introduced by Luther Burbank in 1916. Its ripe berries turn fully white while retaining familiar blackberry flavor, offering an unusual harvest and a distinctive display in an edible garden.
## Growth and fruit
The [One Green World Snowbank profile](https://onegreenworld.com/product/snowbank-white-blackberry/) describes large crops of white-ripe berries and a mature height of about 6 feet when grown on a trellis. The nursery lists the selection for USDA Zones 5–8 and notes that blackberries are self-fertile. Fruit color is the cultivar’s main distinction; it is still a blackberry in flavor and use.
## Siting
Choose a sunny site with well-drained soil. One Green World recommends from half-day to full sun for blackberries. A trellis keeps canes organized and makes harvest easier. Leave room for cane growth and avoid a position where shoots will obstruct a narrow walk.
## Maintenance
Provide at least 1 inch of water weekly from June through September, from rainfall or irrigation. Train canes to their support and prune according to the local blackberry system, removing spent fruiting canes while retaining new growth for a later crop. Pick ripe berries regularly.
