Miami palmetto is a palm documented in the University of Florida comparison of Sabal species in Florida's natural areas. The study records it from Miami-Dade County rock pineland and distinguishes it by its subterranean stem, medium-green leaves and characteristic inflorescence.
## Identification
The UF/IFAS table records three to six leaves, a prominent costa and fruits about 1.5–2 centimeters long. This species is closely associated with southeastern Florida rock pineland; its available size, hardiness and garden-culture requirements are not established by this profile. Do not assume it will suit other climates or garden settings without region-specific advice. The reported habitat is useful context for identification and for understanding its natural growing conditions.
## Maintenance
Specific garden-care guidance is not provided. Consult regional botanical and nursery authorities for propagation, siting and care information before planning a planting. [UF/IFAS: Sorting out the Florida Sabal Palms](https://ask.ifas.ufl.edu/publication/FR357).
