Create design onlineAbout Sage Advice Russian Sage
Sage Advice is a named Russian sage selection with strong upright stems and rich lavender-purple flowers. Proven Winners lists a height of 32–36 inches and spread of 28–32 inches, with summer-through-fall bloom; Walters Gardens identifies the cultivar as PP33310.
## Garden Use
Use Sage Advice as a mid-border perennial, container thriller, or mass planting in a sunny site. Its upright stems hold the flower display above the finely cut foliage, while the long bloom season adds color late in the growing year.
## Growing Conditions
Plant in full sun and well-drained soil. Proven Winners lists average water needs and describes the selection for hot, dry areas; NC State Extension’s Russian sage profile also recommends full sun and occasional dry conditions.
## Maintenance
Deadheading is not required for continued ornamental value, and pruning can wait until spring growth begins. Avoid persistently wet soil and cut back old stems to several inches above ground in early spring.
