About Sallyfun™ Deep Ocean Salvia farinacea

Sallyfun™ Deep Ocean is a compact, upright Salvia farinacea with abundant violet-blue flower spikes above green, aromatic foliage. Danziger identifies it as a pollinator-friendly member of its Sallyfun series, and Monrovia lists it for containers, borders and cutting. ([Danziger](https://www.danzigeronline.com/catalog/annuals/sallyfun-deep-ocean/); [Monrovia](https://www.monrovia.com/sallyfun-deep-ocean-salvia.html)) ## Garden use Plant it in full sun as a vertical accent in a mixed border or container. Danziger gives a mature range of 10–18 inches tall by 12–16 inches wide; Monrovia lists 15–24 inches tall by 12–22 inches wide, so allow for variation between production and garden conditions. Monrovia reports late-spring-to-fall flowering, violet-blue flowers, and USDA zones 8–11; Danziger describes early flowering that continues into summer. ## Maintenance Use enriched, well-drained soil and let the soil dry between waterings. After a flush of flowers, clip lightly and apply a slow-release fertilizer to encourage continued bloom. Water container plants when the top 2–3 inches of soil are dry.
