About Big Blue Salvia interspecific

Big Blue is a vigorous interspecific salvia grown for upright spikes of blue flowers and a long summer display. Ball identifies the selection as PAS1246577, a cross of Salvia longispicata and S. farinacea, and describes it as heat tolerant and useful in pollinator plantings. ## Growing Set it in full sun for strongest flowering; Ball also notes tolerance of dappled or partial sun. Plants reach about 24–36 inches tall and 18–20 inches wide. Use it toward the back of a sunny border or in a large container. Flowers attract bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds, and the plant tolerates heat and dry conditions once established. Trim spent stems to keep the plant tidy and remove damaged growth as needed.
