About Salvia 'Sensation Deep Blue'

Salvia nemorosa ‘Sensation Deep Blue’ forms a compact clump of aromatic foliage topped with deep blue-violet flower spikes. It suits the front of a sunny border and can rebloom after spent stems are removed. ([Colorado Springs Utilities](https://www.csu.org/water-wise-plants/sensation-deep-blue-sage?hsLang=en), [RHS](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/297303/salvia-nemorosa-sensation-deep-blue-sensation-series/details)) ## Garden Use Use this low perennial along a path edge, in a small mixed border, or in a container where its upright flower spikes can be seen. The cultivar is compact, with sources reporting roughly 10–18 inches in height and spread; allow room for a mature clump rather than crowding it. ## Growing Conditions Plant in full sun or light part shade in soil that drains well. Established plants tolerate heat and periods of drought, though they benefit from water during extended dry weather. Flowering is strongest in early to midsummer, with repeat blooms possible after deadheading. ## Maintenance Remove faded flower stalks in midsummer to encourage another flush. Cut old stems and leaves back to the crown in early spring as new growth begins.
