Scarlet sage is a tender perennial commonly grown as an annual and also works in containers; its flowers can continue from summer to frost in warm conditions. Vista's product information notes dense flower spikes and dark foliage that hold color through the season. ## Maintenance Keep the soil from drying out for long periods because Salvia splendens is not drought-tolerant. Provide good drainage and remove spent stems if they become untidy.
