A fast-growing tropical shade tree from Central America and northern South America with an exceptionally broad, umbrella-shaped crown. Its fine green leaflets fold at night and in rainy weather; fluffy pink flower heads are followed by dark pods. Allow ample space for its large canopy and roots. Also called Albizia saman and Pithecellobium saman.
