Linear-leaved stonecrop is a low evergreen succulent with narrow light-green leaves and yellow star-shaped flowers. [Kew](https://powo.science.kew.org/taxon/275621-1) accepts Sedum lineare, native to central and southern China and parts of Japan. This record covers the green species, rather than a variegated cultivar.
[Missouri Botanical Garden](https://plantfinder.mobot.org/PlantFinderDetails.aspx?isprofile=0&taxonid=279510) describes mats around 10–15 cm high, spreading 30 cm or more through upright to reclining stems. Full sun gives compact growth, with some light shade tolerated. Use sandy or gravelly, well-drained soil of moderate to low fertility. Established plants tolerate dry conditions and heat. Good drainage is essential, and cold limits outdoor use in colder climates.
The [San Luis Obispo County January 2014 plant list](https://www.slocounty.ca.gov/departments/planning-building/forms-documents/environmental-forms-and-documents/plants-information/county-approved-plant-list) explicitly names Sedum lineare and assigns F2. F2 identifies its most fire-retardant plants for the 30–70-foot band from a structure. The category is source-specific and is not a guarantee against burning. The county requires suitable soil moisture, uncrowded planting, removal of dead material, separate planting groups and prevention of ground-to-canopy fuel connections.
