Sedum spurium 'Red Rock' is a low, mat-forming succulent with rounded leaves that deepen from dark green to red as the season advances. Rosy-pink flowers appear in summer, and the dense growth makes this selection useful as a small-scale ground cover. [RHS](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/524586/sedum-spurium-red-rock/details) describes mature height and spread of 0.1–0.5 m, or about 4–20 inches; its wide range reflects variation with conditions and maturity.
## Growing conditions
Give it full sun and well-drained soil. The RHS lists chalk, loam, and sand, and recommends moderately fertile soil with neutral to alkaline pH. It is drought tolerant once established, so avoid persistently wet ground. The breeder’s [Intrinsic Perennial Gardens catalog](https://www.intrinsicperennialgardens.com/wp-content/uploads/IPG2019_Catalog_web.pdf) describes Red Rock as an all-red, vigorous sport of 'Fuldaglut'.
## Uses
Use it along a sunny border edge, in a rock garden, or where a low spreading cover is wanted. Its compact scale also suits containers with excellent drainage.
## Maintenance
No regular pruning is required. The RHS notes that it can be propagated from stem cuttings in spring.
