‘Purple Beauty’ is a low evergreen Sempervivum with semi-open rosettes, green centers, and deep purple leaf tips that can vary with the season. The cultivar profile lists 3–4 inches high by 6–8 inches wide, USDA zones 3–8, full sun, low water, and midsummer flowering. [Walters Gardens](https://www.waltersgardens.com/variety.php?ID=SEMPB)
## Growing conditions
Plant it in full sun and sharply draining soil; gritty soil is useful where the site stays damp, and containers should drain freely. It tolerates poor to average soil and a dry position once established. The compact rosettes work well in containers, rock gardens, stone crevices, and along a border. The purple leaf tips may change in intensity through the year, while the green centers remain part of the rosette. [North Carolina Extension](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/sempervivum/)
## Maintenance
Water sparingly after establishment and keep the crown from sitting in wet soil. Separate and replant offsets to expand or thin a group; an old flowering rosette can die after blooming while its surrounding chicks continue growing. No routine pruning is needed.
