About Shadowland® Coast to Coast' Hosta

Shadowland® Coast to Coast is a gold-leaved hosta with broad, puckered foliage that brings a bright focal point to a shaded border. Lavender-purple flower stalks rise over the clump in midsummer, adding a second season of interest. ## Garden Character Its upright, vase-shaped clump combines thick textured leaves with summer flowers. Use it as a specimen in a shaded border or as a substantial container plant. Walters Gardens lists this selection for USDA zones 3–9 and describes its mature foliage as gold, with purple flowers. ## Growing Conditions Site it in part shade to shade, in fertile soil that stays evenly moist but drains freely. It tolerates short dry spells once established, while prolonged dry conditions can reduce vigor. Acidic to neutral soil and consistent moisture support strong foliage. Give it room to develop and protect leaves from prolonged hot afternoon sun. ## Maintenance Remove flower stalks after bloom if a tidier appearance is desired. Allow foliage to die back naturally, then clear dormant leaves in late fall or early winter. Water during extended dry periods and renew organic mulch as needed. [Walters Gardens](https://www.waltersgardens.com/variety.php?ID=HSCTC) provides selection details and culture guidance; [Plant Delights Nursery](https://www.plantdelights.com/products/hosta-coast-to-coast-pp-26469) also describes the cultivar and its garden use.
