Shadowland® Echo the Sun is a bright-yellow hosta with rippled leaves and a low, broad mound that lights up part-shade planting. Purple flowers appear above the foliage in midsummer, adding a contrasting summer accent.
## Garden Character
This selection grows about 19 inches tall and spreads 42–48 inches, forming a wide, mounded clump. Its yellow foliage brings contrast to green and blue hostas, while the lavender-purple blooms provide seasonal color. Walters Gardens lists Echo the Sun for USDA zones 3–9.
## Growing Conditions
Plant in part shade to full shade, with fertile soil that remains moist and drains well. Average, consistent watering supports full leaves, especially through dry spells and during establishment. Acidic to neutral soil is suitable. Protect the foliage from prolonged hot afternoon sun, which can dull or damage its bright color.
## Maintenance
Remove flower stalks after bloom if you prefer to emphasize the foliage. Allow leaves to die down naturally, then remove dormant material in late fall or early winter. Refresh mulch and water during extended dry weather. [Walters Gardens](https://www.waltersgardens.com/variety.php?ID=HSETS) gives the cultivar’s size, flower season, and site guidance.
