About Shadowland® 'Love Story' Hosta

Shadowland® ‘Love Story’ is an ornamental hosta with long, heart-shaped leaves edged in medium green, chartreuse jetting, and creamy-white centers. Tubular white flowers rise on tall scapes in early summer; the breeder lists a 14–16-inch height and a 36–42-inch spread. [Walters Gardens’ selection profile](https://www.waltersgardens.com/variety.php?ID=HSLOS) describes its variegated foliage and seasonal flowers. ## Garden Use Use this compact cultivar to brighten a shaded container or to repeat in a woodland border and mass planting. The green, chartreuse, and pale leaf pattern gives reliable interest from spring through autumn, while the white flower clusters add a brief early-summer accent above the foliage. ## Site and Soil Choose part shade to full shade, with gentle morning sun in cooler settings. Plant in moist, well-drained soil enriched with organic matter; sandy loam gives the roots good aeration. Keep moisture steady during dry weather to support broad, healthy leaves, and avoid hot afternoon exposure. ## Maintenance Inspect new growth for slug feeding and keep mulch from becoming a damp hiding place. In colder areas, a light organic winter mulch can limit heaving around the crown. After the foliage has died back, remove it from the planting bed to tidy the area and reduce places where leaf pests may overwinter.
