Shadowland® Giant ‘Wu-La-La’ is a large hosta with blue-green leaves edged in apple green. Its violet flowers rise above the foliage from early to midsummer. Allow several seasons for the clump to reach its mature size and give it room in a shaded border or woodland planting.
## Foliage and flowers
Mature foliage grows about 3–4 feet high and spreads 5–6 feet; flower scapes can reach about 4 feet. The [Walters Gardens profile](https://www.waltersgardens.com/variety.php?ID=HSWLL) and [Proven Winners profile](https://www.provenwinners.com/p/10991) identify the same Shadowland Giant selection. Its broad, margined leaves create a substantial foliage display, while the violet summer flowers rise above the mound.
## Growing conditions
Plant in part shade to full shade in fertile, moist but well-drained soil. Keep moisture consistent, especially while the hosta establishes. Walters Gardens lists USDA Zones 3–9, acidic-to-neutral soil chemistry, and rapid growth. The [Proven Winners care notes](https://www.provenwinners.com/p/10991) recommend clearing dead foliage after frost.
## Landscape use
Use Wu-La-La as a large specimen, a focal point in a shade garden, or a substantial container plant. Its blue-green and apple-green leaves pair well with ferns and other shade foliage.
## Maintenance
Water during dry spells and remove dead leaves after frost. Give the clump enough room to reach its mature width, and divide established plants only when more divisions are wanted.
