Show Off® Sugar Baby® is a compact forsythia selection identified by the cultivar name ‘NIMBUS’. Its bright yellow flowers open in early spring before the green foliage develops, bringing a strong color display to a small planting space. The breeder describes it as the most dwarf selection in the Show Off line.
## Garden Placement
Use it at the front of a sunny border, as a low edging shrub, or in a container. Full sun to part sun and average, moist, well-drained soil suit the plant. It is listed for USDA zones 5–8; in colder areas flower buds may be damaged even when the shrub survives. ## Size and Season
The breeder lists a mature height of 1.5–2.5 ft and spread of 2–3 ft. Give it space to reach those proportions rather than shearing it into a smaller shape. Flowers are the main spring feature; green leaves follow and may turn purple in fall before dropping.
## Maintenance
Once established, it is described as drought tolerant and deer resistant. It needs little routine pruning to keep its dwarf habit. If renewal or shaping is needed, prune soon after flowering because forsythia forms next year’s buds on older stems.
