Create design onlineAbout Sicilian Sunshine Sweet bay
Sicilian Sunshine® is an ornamental sweet bay with golden foliage and red stems. Its fragrant leaves can also be harvested fresh or dried for cooking, and the evergreen shrub can grow in the landscape or in a container.
## Appearance and uses
This upright selection has green and yellow foliage ranging from chartreuse to gold. Proven Winners lists it for landscape use as an accent or specimen, and as a container plant; its container role is thriller. The aromatic leaves are the familiar culinary bay.
## Growing conditions
Plant in full sun to part sun and provide well-drained soil with average water. The listed hardiness range is USDA zones 8–10. In colder areas, grow it in a pot and move it to a very bright, cool indoor spot for winter. Its mature size is listed as 4–10 ft tall and 6–10 ft wide.
## Maintenance
Prune in late winter or early spring to shape the plant, and harvest bay leaves as needed for fresh use or drying.
