About Moss Campion

Silene acaulis, commonly known as moss campion, is a low-growing, mat-forming evergreen perennial native to arctic and alpine regions. It forms dense, moss-like cushions that protect the plant from harsh winds and cold. In summer, it is covered with masses of tiny, star-shaped pink to lavender flowers. This slow-growing pioneer species thrives in rocky, well-drained soils and full sun, making it an excellent choice for rock gardens or alpine troughs in cooler climates.
