Create design onlineAbout Red Velvet Edible Potted Tomato
Red Velvet is a compact, determinate cherry tomato for a sunny windowsill, patio table, or small container. PanAmerican Seed lists small, round red fruit about ½–1 inch long and wide, with a 70–84 day maturity period from transplanting. ## Form and crop
The plant has a tidy upright habit and produces sweet fruit for fresh eating and recipes. Its small yellow flowers develop into edible tomato berries. The compact Kitchen Minis format is intended for indoor counters and sunny windowsills as well as patios.
## Growing conditions
Provide full sun and a fertile, well-drained growing mix. Tomatoes do best with consistent moisture, but the container should drain freely; PanAmerican Seed advises growing Kitchen Minis plants on the dry side and supporting fruit weight with a small stick near the central stem when flowering. ## Maintenance
Use a container suited to the compact plant and rotate it for even light indoors. Check moisture often because small pots dry quickly, and pick ripe fruit as it develops.
