Create design onlineAbout Tumbler Tomato
Tumbler is a determinate cherry tomato for containers and hanging baskets, where its branches can cascade over the rim. Ball lists plants about 12–18 inches tall and 36–60 inches wide, with red fruit ready roughly 48–50 days after transplanting. ## Fruit and form
The plant has a mounded, trailing habit and bears small, round, sweet tomatoes for fresh eating. Ball describes it as a productive choice for baskets and containers and notes that it attracts bees. Tomato flowers are small and yellow; the edible fruits are botanically berries. [North Carolina Extension](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/solanum-lycopersicum/common-name/tomato/)
## Growing conditions
Give Tumbler full sun and fertile, well-drained soil with even moisture. Loamy soil is a suitable choice; a hanging basket or broad container gives its long stems room to trail. The species is a warm-season crop, so set plants outside after frost danger has passed.
## Maintenance
Check container moisture often, especially during hot weather, and feed regularly as directed for container tomatoes. The long branches can be left to cascade; harvest ripe fruit as it colors.
