Create design onlineAbout Wizard® Jade Coleus
Wizard® Jade is a compact, mounded coleus grown for patterned foliage rather than flowers. PanAmerican Seed lists it at 12–14 inches tall and 10–12 inches wide, for shade or partial sun.
## Foliage and placement
The leaves are ivory with bright green margins, making this selection a light-toned accent among darker foliage. Use it in mixed containers, planters, baskets, or garden beds where its small scale can sit near the front or middle of a planting. [PanAmerican Seed](https://www.panamseed.com/Products/018001649002610/coleus-wizard-jade/) identifies the Wizard Jade selection and its size; [Harris Seeds](https://www.harrisseeds.com/collections/foliage-ornamental/products/02282-coleus-wizard-jade) describes the leaf color.
## Soil and water
Choose well-drained, organic-rich soil. The University of Minnesota Extension recommends pH 6–7 for coleus; PanAmerican lists medium water. Keep the root zone evenly moist, watering garden beds when the top inch or two dries and checking containers more often. Coleus can grow in beds or containers, and light needs vary by cultivar.
## Seasonal interest
The breeder lists flowers from late spring through autumn, while the foliage is the main display. Coleus is cold-sensitive, so treat it as warm-season garden color in climates with frost.
## Maintenance
Pinch off flower stalks as they form if you want to direct growth toward foliage. Pinching stem tips can also encourage a bushier shape.
