Create design onlineAbout Wizard® Scarlet Coleus
Wizard® Scarlet is a compact, mounded coleus with scarlet leaves edged in lemon yellow. PanAmerican Seed lists it at 12–14 inches tall and 10–12 inches wide, for shade or partial sun.
## Foliage and placement
Use the bright leaf contrast in containers, baskets, or landscape beds. The breeder describes the Wizard series as heat tolerant and shade tolerant; [PanAmerican Seed](https://www.panamseed.com/Products/018001649004940/coleus-wizard-scarlet/) confirms the Scarlet selection, dimensions, and exposure. [Park Seed](https://www.parkseed.com/products/wizard-scarlet-coleus-seeds-02971-pk-500) describes its scarlet leaves with yellow edges and compact, upright, mounded habit.
## Soil and water
Choose well-drained, organic-rich soil. The University of Minnesota Extension recommends pH 6–7 for coleus, and the breeder lists medium water. Keep soil evenly moist without leaving it waterlogged; garden beds can be watered when the top inch or two dries, while containers need more frequent checks.
## Seasonal interest
PanAmerican Seed lists blooms from late spring through autumn, but the foliage is the main display. Coleus is cold-sensitive in frost-prone climates and is generally grown as warm-season color.
## Maintenance
Remove flower stalks as they form if you want to favor foliage. Pinching stem tips is optional for maintaining a fuller shape.
