Sorbus domestica, or the Service Tree, is a slow-growing deciduous tree with an ovoid to spherical crown that often becomes as wide as it is tall. Its pinnate foliage consists of 11-21 leaflets that turn vibrant shades of yellow and orange in autumn. This long-lived species produces edible, apple- or pear-shaped fruits used for cider and jams. Thriving in well-drained, alkaline soils, it is drought-tolerant and prefers full sun, though it can handle light shade when young.
