About June Plum Tree

June plum is a tropical fruit tree with pinnate leaves and small white flowers borne in panicles. Its fruits hang in clusters, ripening from green to golden yellow; the crisp flesh is sour-sweet, and the fibrous stone sits in the center. ### Fruit and garden use Ripe fruit can be eaten fresh or cooked, juiced, or used in preserves. Green, unripe fruit is used in pickles and savory dishes, while young leaves are also eaten in some cuisines. The National Parks Board of Singapore describes trees grown in the ground as about 9–12 m tall, with smaller plants possible in containers. ### Growing conditions Grow the tree in full sun and well-drained soil, with moderate water. In warm climates it can be used as a productive fruit-tree specimen or grown in a large container where conditions permit. Its tropical origin means local winter temperatures and growing season affect performance. ## Maintenance Water regularly while establishing, then adjust irrigation to rainfall and container conditions. Harvest fruit as it ripens from green to golden yellow. See the [NParks species profile](https://www.nparks.gov.sg/florafaunaweb/flora/3/1/3134) for fruit and cultivation details.
