Spring Glory® is the compact, narrow-pyramidal serviceberry cultivar ‘Sprizam’, selected for a manageable tree form and several seasons of interest. Its white spring flowers are followed by edible berries, and its foliage develops warm fall color.
## Landscape use and seasonal interest
The breeder’s program describes a mature plant about 12 feet tall and 6–8 feet wide, making it useful as a small street tree, specimen, or focal tree in a native or naturalistic garden. Flowers open before the leaves, then oval gray-green foliage fills in; the berries progress from red to purple as they ripen and may be shared with songbirds. Fall foliage can show orange, red, and yellow tones.
## Siting and care
Plant in full sun or part sun for flowering and fruit, in average, moist but well-drained soil. Avoid persistently wet or very dry sites. This cultivar is more compact than many serviceberries, but allow enough space for the canopy and for fruit to drop. It is listed for USDA zones 4–8.
## Maintenance
Little routine pruning is needed. After flowering, remove damaged or crossing branches if necessary; the breeder does not recommend regular pruning. Water during establishment and extended dry periods, and harvest ripe berries or leave some for birds.
