Create design onlineAbout Still Waters Clematis
Still Waters™ is the clematis cultivar ‘Zostiwa’ (USPP20372), bred by Wim Snoeijer. It produces large icy violet-blue flowers from late spring into late summer and blooms on old and new wood. [Spring Meadow Nursery’s exact cultivar page](https://springmeadownursery.com/plantfinder/still-waters-15420) lists a mature height of 4–7 feet and width of 3–5 feet. The [Royal Horticultural Society cultivar record](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/269523/clematis-still-waters-zostiwa-el/details) confirms the trade name and selection identity.
## Flowers and placement
The pale violet-blue flowers stand out against deciduous green foliage. Still Waters suits a trellis, fence, vertical garden, or container, and its stems can also be used as cut flowers. The nursery classifies its flower color as purple while describing the blooms as icy violet-blue.
## Growing conditions
Grow in full sun or part sun. Clematis roots prefer a cool, moist, well-drained position; shade the base while allowing the upper vine to reach the light. The existing 1.5 m height remains plausible within the nursery’s approximate range. The published width range supports the 3–5 foot display label; the existing numeric width is preserved rather than choosing a new point from that range.
## Maintenance
In spring, prune back to about 2 feet and provide sturdy support. Water during dry periods and maintain a cool root zone.
