Create design onlineAbout Ladyslippers® Azure - Streptocarpus
Ladyslippers® Azure is a compact Streptocarpus selection grown for azure-blue, slipper-shaped flowers with darker veins and a neat rosette of green leaves. It is best treated as an indoor flowering plant or a sheltered shaded patio container, using bright filtered light rather than direct hot sun. ## Form and flowers
This Ladyslippers selection forms a basal rosette of elongated leaves and produces blue flowers with darker veining. The opened retail description gives a maximum height of 25 cm; no mature-width point is documented, so both numeric dimensions remain unfilled. The selection is sold within the Ladyslippers series; its trade color name is retained without asserting a separate cultivar denomination.
## Growing conditions
Provide bright indirect or filtered light and protect the leaves from intense direct sun. Grow in an airy, well-drained indoor potting mix. Water when the surface begins to dry, avoiding saturated media and standing water. The breeder’s culture sheet recommends allowing the medium to dry from wet to damp between irrigations and keeping the crown above the mix.
## Placement
Use as a flowering houseplant or in a shaded patio container during suitable weather. Avoid hot, exposed locations and ensure the pot drains freely.
## Maintenance
Remove faded flower stalks and old leaves at their base. Keep the crown just above the potting mix and water again when the surface begins to dry. Maintain bright filtered light and avoid leaving water in the pot’s saucer.
