About Ladyslippers® Cherry Ice - Streptocarpus

Cherry Ice is a Ladyslippers® Cape Primrose (Streptocarpus), grown for patterned flowers and a long display in bright, filtered light. Cherry Ice has pink flowers with darker pink-purple markings and pale areas, as shown in its exact RHS profile. That profile describes a tender perennial for partial shade, loam, and moist but well-drained growing conditions; the published size is a broad range, so no numeric height or width point is inferred. It can add a patterned flowering accent to a shaded container. ## Profile Green Fuse lists the Ladyslippers® selections for continuous flowering indoors by a bright window or outdoors in shade, and its series catalogue gives a 6–10 inch garden height. The culture sheet recommends bright indirect light, protection from hot direct sun, and allowing the growing medium to move from dry toward damp between waterings. Use a draining container and avoid leaving the mix waterlogged. Use it as a flowering container accent where the flower markings can be seen up close. The flower colors are pink and purple and white. ## Maintenance Provide bright filtered light and keep the plant out of hot direct sun. Let the mix dry back toward damp between waterings, then water evenly; sub-irrigation is an option in the Green Fuse culture guidance. Remove finished flower stalks while keeping healthy leaves in place.
