Create design onlineAbout Summerific® Cookies and Cream™ Rose Mallow
Summerific® Cookies and Cream™ is an upright hardy hibiscus with white summer flowers set against nearly black foliage. Its 30–36-inch height and 42–48-inch spread suit sunny mixed borders and moist landscape beds, where the dark leaves add contrast from late spring through fall.
## Landscape Use
Place this compact rose mallow in a border or focal planting where its dark leaves can contrast with lighter flowers and foliage. It grows in part sun to full sun; full sun brings out the deepest foliage color. The breeder lists moist, well-drained soil and notes that the plant can grow in poor, average, or fertile conditions. See the [Proven Winners plant profile](https://www.provenwinners.com/plants/hibiscus/summerific-cookies-and-cream-rose-mallow-hibiscus-hybrid) for selection-specific details.
## Seasonal Interest
White flowers appear in summer, with a long display and fall interest. The upright clump reaches about 30–36 inches tall and spreads 42–48 inches wide, making it useful where a hardy hibiscus is wanted without the space required by taller forms. It is listed for USDA zones 4a–9b and attracts hummingbirds; the breeder also describes it as deer resistant. The selection is identified as USPP35736; see the [patent record](https://patents.google.com/patent/USPP35736P2/en).
## Maintenance
Keep the root zone moist while maintaining drainage; average water is sufficient under ordinary garden conditions. Growth resumes quickly after late-spring emergence. In spring, cut back the previous season’s stems before new growth starts, then allow the new shoots to develop through the flowering season.
