About Summerific® Edge of Night™ Rose Mallow

Summerific® Edge of Night™ forms a compact rounded mound of branching stems. Its bubblegum-pink petals have darker pink veins and a deep red eye, with flowering concentrated from late July into early September. ## Size and season The [plant patent](https://patents.justia.com/patent/PP34359) describes unpinched, four-year-old plants about 94 cm tall and 150 cm wide, and a five-to-six-week floral display. It documents hardiness in USDA Zones 4–9. For the strongest growth, plant in a sunny site and keep soil generously moist. ## Growing conditions Use humus-rich soil that holds moisture while draining freely. This hardy hibiscus is slow to emerge in spring, then grows quickly as warm weather arrives. Its rounded form suits a sunny perennial border or a prominent focal spot. ## Maintenance Water consistently through summer and mulch the root zone for winter. Leave old stems standing until spring, then cut them back as new shoots begin to show.
