Create design onlineAbout Summerific® Perfect Storm™ Rose Mallow
Summerific® Perfect Storm™ is a hardy hibiscus with broad white petals, a dark red eye, and pink edging set against deep green foliage. Its exceptionally large flowers open in late summer into early fall, bringing a high-contrast focal point to sunny borders and moisture-retentive rain gardens. Walters Gardens lists a mature height near 3 feet, a 4.5–5-foot spread, and hardiness zones 4–9 ([cultivar details and growing notes](https://www.waltersgardens.com/variety.php?ID=HIBPR)).
## Garden placement
Give this vigorous perennial full sun or part shade and room for its broad crown. Consistent moisture supports strong growth and flowering; plant it in moist, well-drained soil rather than a persistently dry bed. Its substantial flowers work well as a focal point among grasses and lower summer perennials.
## Seasonal display
The 7–8-inch blooms appear from late summer into early fall. White petals, a red eye, and pink margins make the flower pattern readable from a distance. The breeder notes that bees and hummingbirds visit the flowers and that deer resistance is a useful garden trait.
## Maintenance
Old stems can remain through winter and be cut back in spring before new growth starts. This hibiscus emerges late, so mark its crown and avoid disturbing the planting area too early. A mulch layer helps protect a new planting through its first winter; keep the soil evenly moist while it establishes.
