About Summerific® Spinderella™ Rose Mallow

Summerific® Spinderella™ is a compact, rounded hardy hibiscus with white flowers edged in medium pink around a dark red eye. The large blooms appear in summer and early fall above green foliage, giving a sunny border or rain garden a vivid late-season accent. Walters Gardens lists mature dimensions of about 4–4.5 feet tall and 4.5–5 feet wide, with hardiness zones 4–9 ([cultivar details and growing notes](https://www.waltersgardens.com/variety.php?ID=HIBSD)). ## Garden placement Plant in full sun or part shade, allowing room for the dense, well-rounded crown. Moist, well-drained soil and consistent water suit this fast-growing hibiscus; it can also be used in a bog planting or rain garden where the ground stays reliably moist. The dark red flower centers contrast strongly with the pale petals. ## Seasonal display Flowers reach about 8 inches across and continue from summer into early fall. Bees and hummingbirds visit the blooms, and the breeder describes the plant as deer resistant. Late emergence is normal for hardy hibiscus, so pair it with plants that will not crowd its crown while it wakes in spring. ## Maintenance Leave the old stems in place through winter, then cut them down in spring before new shoots begin. Keep the root zone evenly moist during active growth, and mulch a new planting before its first winter. The plant's broad mature spread makes occasional spacing adjustments more useful than routine shaping.
