Sunjoy Neo® Barberry

Sunjoy Neo® is a compact Japanese barberry selected for orange foliage that shifts through red and yellow-green tones as it develops. Spring Meadow identifies the selection as ‘NCBT2’, while the plant patent documents its rounded growth and seasonal color variation. ## Garden Use Use this thorny shrub as a low hedge, border, or foliage accent where its warm colors can contrast with green plants. Leave clearance beside paths and work areas. ## Light and Seasonal Color Plant in full sun for the strongest foliage color and in well-drained soil. The breeder lists USDA zones 4–8 and reports dry tolerance once established. Proven Winners lists deer resistance. Color varies with light and climate. ## Mature Size Spring Meadow lists approximately 2.5 feet tall and wide. The catalog’s 0.8 m dimensions and 30–32 inch labels are consistent with that approximate size. ## Maintenance Water regularly while the plant establishes and during prolonged dry periods. The rounded habit generally needs little pruning; trim lightly after new growth if shaping is needed.
