Sunjoy Orange Pillar® Barberry

Sunjoy Orange Pillar® is an upright Japanese barberry with bright orange foliage and a narrow form. Spring Meadow identifies the cultivar as ‘NCBT3’ and lists a mature range of 3–4 feet tall and 1.5–3 feet wide. ## Garden Use Use this deciduous shrub as a vertical accent in a border, foundation planting, or informal hedge. Its narrow outline adds height where a rounded shrub would take too much room. Barberry stems are thorny, so leave space beside paths and work areas. ## Light and Seasonal Color Plant in full sun and average, well-drained soil. Spring Meadow lists USDA zones 4–8 and spring flowering. Foliage color and intensity can vary with season and growing conditions. ## Mature Size Allow about 3–4 feet tall and 1.5–3 feet wide. The current 1 m height and 0.7 m width fit those ranges; the width label is shown as 18–36 inches to keep the entire range in inches. ## Maintenance Water during establishment and extended dry periods. The upright form generally needs little pruning; trim lightly after new growth if shaping is needed.
