About Sunstar® Lavender Egyptian Star Flower

Sunstar® Lavender is an upright Egyptian star flower with extra-large clusters of lavender blooms against dark green foliage. Proven Winners lists it as a heat-tolerant annual that flowers from spring through fall and grows 18–22 inches tall. [See the Sunstar® Lavender plant profile](https://serv3.provenwinners.com/plants/pentas/sunstar-lavender-egyptian-star-flower-pentas-lanceolata). ## Garden profile Plants spread about 16–24 inches and flower in full sun to part sun. The long-blooming clusters attract bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. Place this color selection in sunny beds, borders, containers, or mass plantings; its upright form also supplies stems for cut-flower use. ## Growing conditions Pentas performs best in good, moist soil and tolerates poorer soils. Choose a site with drainage and water regularly during warm, dry spells. Proven Winners describes the Sunstar series as heat tolerant and says deadheading is not required for continued bloom. ## Maintenance Keep newly planted pentas watered while roots establish. During prolonged dry weather, water deeply when the soil begins to dry, and remove spent clusters only when a tidier appearance is desired.
