Create design onlineAbout Superbells® Blackcurrant Punch Calibrachoa
Superbells® Blackcurrant Punch™ is a mounding, trailing calibrachoa with purple flowers edged in bright color around a deep, nearly black eye. Its cascading stems and long season of bloom make it a strong choice for baskets, window boxes, and patio planters, as shown in the [Proven Winners cultivar profile](https://www.provenwinners.com/plants/calibrachoa/superbells-blackcurrant-punch-calibrachoa).
## Flowers and placement
Proven Winners lists this exact cultivar at 6–12 inches tall and 12–24 inches wide, with stems trailing up to 24 inches. The purple-and-black flower pattern is especially visible when the plant spills over a container edge. The breeder identifies it as an annual with spring, summer, and fall flowers, continuing from planting until hard frost.
## Growing conditions
Choose full sun to part sun. Calibrachoa roots need a free-draining mix and do poorly when soil stays soggy; [UMN Extension](https://extension.umn.edu/garden-and-home/yard-and-garden/gardening-in-minnesota/calibrachoa) recommends acidic potting mix around pH 5.0–6.5. Keep the root zone evenly supplied with moisture, letting the surface dry slightly between waterings. A hanging basket can dry rapidly in heat or wind, so check it often. Regular fertilizer supports the repeated flowering.
## Seasonal role
Use Blackcurrant Punch as a trailing color accent or combine it with upright foliage plants. Proven Winners notes hummingbirds may visit the flowers. Although the breeder lists USDA zones 9–11, the plant is generally grown as a warm-season annual in colder climates.
## Maintenance
Calibrachoa flowers cleanly without routine deadheading. Let the potting mix dry slightly between thorough waterings, but do not allow severe wilting; baskets may need frequent checks in hot weather. Feed regularly during active growth. If stems stretch or become uneven by midsummer, shorten the longest shoots lightly and follow with water and fertilizer.
