About Superbells® Double Chiffon Double Calibrachoa

Superbells® Double Chiffon Double is a trailing annual calibrachoa with soft buttery-yellow, fully double flowers. The layered blooms add a ruffled texture to baskets and container combinations, while cascading stems spill over the rim. Proven Winners lists a mature height of 6–12 inches, a 12–24 inch spread and trailing stems up to 24 inches, with flowers through spring, summer and fall; it is generally grown as an annual except in USDA zones 9–11. ## Placement and growing conditions Use it as a spiller in a hanging basket or at the edge of a container, in part sun to full sun. Choose a free-draining potting mix because calibrachoa roots are sensitive to continuously wet soil and can rot in soggy conditions. The [University of Minnesota Extension](https://extension.umn.edu/garden-and-home/yard-and-garden/gardening-in-minnesota/calibrachoa) recommends sun, acidic well-drained media and regular feeding for container plants. In garden beds, use only soil that drains freely. ## Seasonal care The [Proven Winners cultivar profile](https://www.provenwinners.com/plants/calibrachoa/superbells-double-chiffon-double-calibrachoa-calibrachoa) identifies the double yellow flowers, spring-to-fall flowering and no-deadheading habit. Water when the surface begins to dry, but do not let plants wilt severely. Feed container plants regularly according to label directions. If stems become leggy by midsummer, lightly trim the longest growth and continue feeding to support fresh growth. ## Maintenance Keep roots out of standing water, fertilize regularly during active growth and remove damaged stems as needed. Spent flowers do not require routine removal; replace the plant after frost where it is not winter-hardy.
