Create design onlineAbout Superbells® Evening Star Calibrachoa
Superbells® Evening Star is a mounding, trailing calibrachoa with purple flowers marked by a yellow star and dark center. The [Proven Winners entry for code BBCAL87705](https://www.provenwinners.com/plants/calibrachoa/superbells-evening-star-ii-calibrachoa) lists a 6–12 inch height, 12–24 inch spread, spring-to-fall flowering, and USDA zones 9–11.
## Form and placement
Use its cascading stems along the edge of a hanging basket, window box, or mixed container. Its flowers make a bright low accent in a sunny bed with freely draining soil. Calibrachoa is a tender perennial commonly grown as an annual in cooler regions.
## Growing conditions
Give it full sun to part sun and a fertile mix that holds some moisture while draining well. [NCSU Extension](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/calibrachoa-x-hybrida/) describes calibrachoa as suited to containers and warns against persistently wet roots; [Illinois Extension](https://extension.illinois.edu/flowers/calibrachoa) also recommends full sun, fertile soil, and regular feeding. Water when the mix begins to dry, checking baskets more often in warm or windy weather.
## Maintenance
Feed during active growth according to the product label. Calibrachoa flowers are self-cleaning, so routine deadheading is unnecessary. If stems become leggy, trim them lightly and continue regular watering and feeding.
