Superbena® Scarlet Star is a mounding, trailing verbena with bright red flower clusters centered by a white eye. Its spreading habit brings long-season color to sunny borders, groundcover plantings, hanging baskets, and mixed containers.
## Features
The scarlet-and-white flowers stand out against green foliage, and the plant produces repeated blooms through the warm season. It is sold as an annual in cooler climates and can be perennial in warmer USDA zones.
## Growing Conditions
Choose a site with full sun or part sun and average, well-drained garden soil. The compact height and trailing growth make it useful at the front of a bed or where stems can spill over a container edge.
## Maintenance
This cultivar is bred for heat and disease tolerance and does not need routine deadheading to continue flowering. Water consistently while plants establish, then avoid leaving the soil persistently soggy. A light midseason trim can encourage fuller branching when desired.
