Create design onlineAbout Superbena® Violet Ice Verbena
Superbena® Violet Ice is a vigorous verbena with violet-purple flower clusters and a contrasting white eye. Its mounding, trailing stems make it useful at a bed edge or as a spiller in a sunny container, where it can bloom from spring into fall. [Proven Winners](https://www.provenwinners.com/plants/verbena/superbena-violet-ice-verbena) lists a mature height of 6–12 inches and a spread of 18–30 inches.
## Placement and bloom
Set plants in full sun to part sun and give the stems room to trail. Violet Ice is treated as an annual and performs through warm weather; the breeder lists USDA hardiness zones 8a–11b for perennial persistence. The large flower heads stand above green foliage and provide late-season color.
## Maintenance
Water when the soil begins to dry, avoiding persistently soggy ground. Deadheading is not needed for continued flowering. If stems become too long or the plant looks sparse, trim up to about one fifth of their length midseason to encourage fuller growth; Proven Winners recommends light feeding after trimming.
