About SuperCal® Cherry Improved Petchoa

SuperCal® Cherry Improved is an annual petchoa with cherry-red flowers and a semi-mounding habit. Sakata lists it as an early-flowering selection with medium-size blooms and strong vigor in its SuperCal culture guide. ## Growing Plant in full sun in a well-drained bed or container. Use porous soil; keep container soil moist, and water landscape plantings when the soil dries. Sakata’s home-growing guide recommends slow-release fertilizer at label rates and describes the series as flowering from early in the season into fall. Sakata’s culture guide gives the regular SuperCal series a typical size of 16–24 inches tall and 20–30 inches wide. ## Maintenance The series is self-cleaning, so routine deadheading is unnecessary. Trim as needed to shape the plant.
