The pati palm (Syagrus botryophora) is a solitary-stemmed species native to Brazil’s Atlantic Forest. [Kew](https://powo.science.kew.org/taxon/urn:lsid:ipni.org:names:670007-1/general-information) accepts the species and places it in the wet tropical biome; the [Brazilian Flora assessment](https://proflora.jbrj.gov.br/html/Syagrus%20botryophora_2021.html) records it in gallery and rain forests and documents the names pati and patitoba. A specialist nursery describes mature trees 15–20 metres tall, with some exceptional trees higher.
## Growing Conditions
The nursery recommends full sun for established palms, organic-rich, well-drained soil and regular watering while plants establish. It advises protecting young leaves from direct full sun until the palm is established and avoiding waterlogged soil. Keep the trunk and crown well clear of walls and paving.
## Landscape Use
This is a large specimen for broad gardens, rows or avenues, not a small patio container. Its eventual height and solitary trunk need open space.
## Seasonal Interest
In its Brazilian range, the nursery reports flowering from August to November and fruiting from December to March.
## Maintenance
Water young plants regularly, then taper irrigation as they establish while avoiding prolonged dry spells. Use palm-specific pruning guidance and remove only damaged or hazardous fronds.
