‘Palibin’ is a compact Meyer lilac valued for its rounded, mounded habit and fragrant lavender-purple flowers. The shrub flowers in spring, with occasional later rebloom, and its dark green deciduous leaves provide a clean background for the panicles.
## Size and Flowering
The University of Minnesota’s UFOR Nursery profile lists a mature height of 4–5 feet and width of 5–6 feet, while other horticultural references give broader estimates. The current size fields remain within published variation. The fragrant flowers begin around mid-May and can nearly cover the plant; a light late-summer repeat bloom may occur. The [University of Minnesota plant profile](https://trees.umn.edu/dwarf-korean-lilac-syringa-meyeri-palibin) provides its cultivar identity and care details.
## Placement
Plant in full sun for the strongest flowering; part shade is also suitable. Moist, well-drained soil supports steady growth. Its compact habit fits smaller gardens, borders, mass plantings, and large containers, and the flowers provide nectar and pollen visited by birds, butterflies, and other pollinators.
## Maintenance
Water weekly, increasing frequency during extreme heat. Like other spring-flowering lilacs, it is best pruned just after flowers fade so that late-season pruning does not remove developing flower buds. Remove older or damaged stems selectively to maintain the naturally rounded framework.
