Create design onlineAbout Snowcap™ Japanese Tree Lilac
Snowcap™ is a compact, oval selection of Japanese tree lilac with fragrant white flower panicles in early summer. Its thick, dark green foliage and uniform branching suit smaller gardens and residential landscapes.
## Flowers and habit
The white blooms appear in early summer and attract attention above the oval crown. Bailey Nurseries lists a mature height of 15–20 feet and spread of 10–12 feet; another cultivar-specific nursery listing reports 15–18 feet of spread. Published spread figures vary, so allow ample room around the mature tree.
## Growing conditions
Grow in full sun in well-drained soil. Bailey lists the selection for zones 3–8. Use as a compact ornamental flowering tree or specimen where its spring-to-summer display can be seen.

## Maintenance
Prune lightly after flowering to remove damaged or crossing branches and maintain the natural oval crown. Water regularly while establishing; once established, follow local rainfall and soil conditions.
