First Editions® Little Lady™ is the compact lilac selection 'Jeflady', bred for fragrant, late-spring flowers on a small, rounded shrub. Pink buds open to lilac-pink flowers, while fresh green summer leaves turn dark red-purple in autumn. Its four- to five-foot height and spread suit foundation beds, smaller borders, and grouped plantings without the scale of a full-size common lilac.
## Site and growth
Plant in full sun and allow about four to five feet for the mature shrub. The official First Editions profile lists USDA zones 2–7, deer resistance, drought tolerance, and a rounded, upright form.
## Seasonal interest
Fragrant blooms arrive in late spring. Green foliage carries the shrub through summer and changes to dark red-purple in fall, extending its seasonal display beyond flowering.
## Maintenance
Water as needed to maintain its medium water requirement. Prune after flowering to maintain the rounded outline, since later pruning can remove buds for the next spring. Little Lady is covered by U.S. Plant Patent PP 30,331, granted April 2, 2019.
