About Culinary Thyme

Thymus vulgaris, commonly known as garden thyme, is a woody-based evergreen subshrub native to the Mediterranean. It typically grows in a bushy, upright habit reaching heights of six to twelve inches. The plant features tiny, highly aromatic, grey-green leaves used extensively in culinary and medicinal applications. In late spring, it produces clusters of small, tubular, pink to lilac flowers. It thrives in full sun and well-drained, sandy or rocky soils, being both drought and frost tolerant.
