Kauai™ Deep Blue Torenia

Kauai™ Deep Blue is a compact, mounded wishbone flower with deep blue-violet blooms and white throats. The exact [PanAmerican profile](https://www.panamseed.com/Products/062106294000653/torenia-kauai-deep-blue/) lists an 8-inch height and width, late-spring and summer bloom, and shade or partial-sun exposure; [Kaw Valley Greenhouses](https://www.kawvalleygreenhouses.com/plants/Detail/2480) confirms the blue-violet flowers and container use. ## Growing Conditions Plant this annual in shade or partial sun, especially in hot summer climates. Wishbone flower does well in rich, moist soil; mulch helps keep roots cool. It suits containers, hanging baskets, window boxes, or the front of a shade border. The [NC State Extension growing guide](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/torenia-fournieri/) recommends pinching to encourage a bushier shape. ## Maintenance Keep the soil moist while allowing excess water to drain, and pinch growing tips when a fuller shape is desired. The Kauai series is heat and humidity tolerant and flowers from late spring into summer.
