Moon Velvet is a named Torenia selection listed in the Moon range, with purple and light-yellow flowers. The nursery catalog describes the range as dense, semi-trailing, and free-flowering, making this selection suitable for a container edge or hanging basket. ## Growing conditions
Wishbone flowers perform well in part sun to shade, especially where summers are hot. Use rich, moist soil and mulch to keep the root area cool; the species profile from [North Carolina Extension](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/torenia-fournieri/) also recommends containers, hanging baskets, and the front of a shade border. Moon Velvet's purple and pale-yellow two-tone flowers add contrast without requiring a tall planting position.
## Maintenance
Water often enough to prevent the root zone from drying out, and pinch young stems if a denser outline is desired. Torenia is generally grown as a warm-season annual in cold climates. Remove spent stems only when needed to keep the plant tidy.
