Create design onlineAbout Totally Stoked™ Riptide Aster
Totally Stoked™ ‘Riptide’ Stoke’s aster forms a broad, low mound of foliage topped by periwinkle-blue flowers through summer. Its 24–26 inch height and 32–36 inch spread suit the middle of a sunny border where the blooms can be seen above shorter edging plants.
## Flowering and placement
The Proven Winners selection is listed for USDA Zones 5–9 and full sun, with average water needs. Its dense mound works in borders, containers, mass plantings, and cutting gardens; the breeder also notes that bees and butterflies visit the flowers. Blue blooms and a long summer display bring color without needing a tall backdrop. See the [Riptide cultivar profile](https://www.provenwinners.com/plants/stokesia/totally-stoked-riptide-stokes-aster-stokesia-laevis) for its size, exposure, and seasonal details.
## Growing conditions
Choose a site with well-drained soil. This cultivar tolerates heat and humidity and is described as drought tolerant, but it should not sit in wet soil over winter. Leave room for the mature spread so neighboring plants do not crowd the basal foliage.
## Maintenance
Remove spent flower heads to encourage continued flowering. Keep winter drainage open around the crown, especially in heavier soils; the breeder lists this selection in its easy-care category.
